The day my family almost died
I will never forget the day my family could have died. I will always remember the day we were almost burned alive. My little brothers went outside to play one day, not knowing of what they would find. The pure innocence of a child just playing outside, finding unknown things, and being curious of everything they find. Everyone else was inside the house on this horrible day, just going about our everyday lives. All of a sudden one of my brothers rushed into the house with a most dreadful look on his face. He looked so nervous and scared, and even a little excited all at the same time. He said "Sherri, you need to come outside and see what we have found" I ignored him for a while. He just kept bothering me about this "thing" in which they found. He was so persistent, saying that it is a life or death situation, and I needed to go see what they found. He kept saying we might need to call the police. SO finally after being continuously bothered by these scary things they found, I began to get quite curious. I wondered what a small child of only 5 or 6 could be so worried about. So I went outside, not knowing of what to expect, as I walked up to these innocent little boys they said "We have something to show you, we think someone is trying to blow up our family, we need to call the police" "but before we show you, you have to promise not to tell mom because we don't want her to worry" so I said "okay, what is it, what have you guys found" they said"look at his dynamite we found, we might have to call the FBI" As I walked a little closer they had a bucket full of something. They had been digging through a bunch of old boxes underneath the crawl space of the house. The previous owners of our house had left a bunch of stuff underneath the house, toys, books, and more peculiar things as well. As I looked into the bucket, laughter overcame my soul. They couldn't figure out why I was laughing, for what they found was a horrible thing, dynamite was a serious matter. They were so worried someone was trying to kill our family. The bucket was full of tampons, no applicators just the cotton and the string. Of coarse these innocent little boys would think these were dynamite! This has to be one of the funniest things that I have ever seen. The fun in the innocence of a child, where so many things, might just be so many different things. There was not one doubt in their mind, that they found dynamite that day, absolutley no doubt in their mind. Thank goodness our family was safe that day, but I think we almost died from laughing.
